faith and finish strong

Let’s finish strong.  We have been talking about faith, what it means and how it works in our lives.  Hebrews 11 has been the place where we have camped and learned the most. But as the week comes to an end I move through some other verses about faith.  Some of these are common or known.  Some are not.  But each brings us light for the journey.  They strengthen our walk with God which is all based on our faith in Him along. My desire is for our faith to go deeper than ever before and to challenge others to do the same. Proverbs 3:5  NLT   Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Faith is completely in God and not in ourselves. Jeremiah 3:12  NLT   Therefore, go and give this message to Israel. This is what the Lord says: “O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever. Faith brings us close to God and His mercy.  Being faithl...

Jesus on faithfulness

We continue our series Pre-Decide at The Community Fellowship, and yesterday we talked about being faithful as we pursue our God and choose to be in relationship with the God who loves us so much.  There are so many great outcomes if we simple continue to follow. Jesus taught his disciples how to understand and live by faith.  It isn’t easy, but it is right.  The outcome is worth the struggle.  In fact, as God says, our responsibility is to be obedient to God.  His responsibility are all the outcomes.  Just do what is right, and leave the results to God. Listen in to what God says and guides us to understand… Faithfulness our choice that has excellent outcomes because it is in God’s hands, not ours.  How is is this applied?  What Jesus said & didn’t say?  As the disciples worried, Jesus spoke to them Like 12:22  NASB And He said to His disciples, “for this reason I say, Do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat, not for y...

His faithful love endures forever

We each have our own convictions or the truths that seem to be important to us.  As followers of Jesus many of those should be the same.  Scripture is given to us to reenforce what God does, who God is and how we live for Him. One passage hit my heart several weeks ago and seems to come back around pretty often.  That would be Psalm 136.  It demonstrates the love of God and pours it out over and over.  Then I realized it is more of a responsive reading, the kind we do in church from time to time. Read this out loud wherever you are today.  Let God reenforce the fact that His faithful love endures forever… Psalm 136 NLT 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. 2 Give thanks to the God of gods. His faithful love endures forever. 3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords. His faithful love endures forever. 4 Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles. His faithful love endures forever. 5 Give...

dealing with the unknown

We are not in control.  It is like this hurricane we have been talking about and waiting on. Who knows where it will go or the path it will take or it’s severity.  What we do know is that we cannot and no one can control it. Dealing with the unknown is tough.  This is where worry and anxiety seem to get the best of us.  We have to make a choice to let God be God and for Him lead us through.  If we wait for the right moment or the perfect situation, we will never make a move.  In fact, faith is an exercise in uncertainty because by faith we admit that God is in control.  We are not.  It gets easier to deal with the unknown when we confess that fact. Here are some verses to help us in dealing with the unknown: Hebrews 11:1  nlt Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Hebrews 13:6   nlt So we can say with confidence,...

the truth about our giving

Our current series at The Community Fellowship is called GIVE IT ALL AWAY.   IT can mean and does mean many things.   Sunday we talked about money, but the stuff we can and must give away runs the gamut from tangible to intangible.   Grace is intangible but can be seen.   It is not contained in a bank account. But there are things we can put in a bank account.   The fact is that when you look at your money, or when someone else looks at how you use your money and possessions, speaks volumes about your relationship with God. Malachi 3:8-12   NLT 8  “Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ “You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. 9  You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10  Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will ope...

faithful with a little

On my recent trip to Texas I was able to attend Gateway Church with several members of our Raceway Ministry team.   Gateway is where Robert Morris , author of The Blessed Life , is pastor.   Many of his messages that I have heard via TV, podcasts and at conferences have blessed me big time. Morris talked about he fact that Scripture understanding, order and strength.   By living by the Word of God, by following the principles God gives us we will be blessed and be blessed big time. Here is a blog post Robert Morris shared: The Bible says that we must be faithful with a little before we will be entrusted with much. If you have just a little bit of money, you are a perfect candidate for blessing because if you will be faithful with that little, God will give you more. God is looking for people He can entrust with much. He also knows that a person who is unjust with a little will be unjust with more as well. Christians who will cheat with a little won’t ...
