The Community's NEW CAMPUS

It really is an honor to share with you some of the things that God is doing around The Community Fellowship and in our community.  The biggest and most important reason that I share with you is that we need to come together and pray together as we move forward to  demonstrate the love to our community  and far beyond in the coming days. In Tuesday's newspaper there are an article titled "Shelter could open in fall", and the article was about the push that we are spear heading to open a men's homeless shelter in Martinsville and Henry County.  You can read the article at  THIS LINK .  I ask that you read it, share it and continually pray over this.  In January over 50 homeless people were discovered in our community, and I believe, along with many others in our community, that these friends are important and need someone to speak up for them.  That is what I believe we are called to do. Therefore, I ask you to pray in three specific ways for Th...

the first night of a homeless shelter

1 Peter 4:9   NLT Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. I sit here late at night thinking back over this day that seems too good to be true.   We’ve been working for a few years to open a homeless shelter.   But today it became a reality as a group of people came together to open an emergency winter shelter. This is the first step.   And this is why I am excited about the future.   I believe this is only the first step for a year round homeless shelter that will be for men and eventually for families as well.   The amount of people that are talking about this and willing t...

homelessness & winter weather

Hello friends of the homeless in Martinsville and Henry County.  As we continue to plan for an emergency homeless shelter there is a present need with the winter weather headed our way. There is a group of people meeting to plan an emergency homeless shelter that will be at the Salvation Army.  The plans are still being made.  I wish this was already done and open.  The need is now. Some of the people in our church and some in our community desire to help those who are homeless and cold. If you know of people in need now, those we can help now, contact me or do something to help.  Email me to share. Talk to your friends and family. Do something with what you have and what you have influence over.  The low temperature will be worse on Monday and Tuesday with lows in the single digits. The need is real. You and I have the ability to serve others.   Our community needs a homeless shelter year round. But it is tim...
