  What happens at the speedway stays at the speedway. Nah.  That is not true.  In fact the people that partner with Raceway Ministries are ready to do some awesome things and have some great conversations.  Please pray for this team. 2 Corinthians 13:14  NLT   May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.  We get to help people see and know the love of God.  Through acts of kindness and conversations, we will talk about life and how God’s love has impacted our lives.   We get to serve.   It all began in 2001 after we moved to Virginia.  There were lots of opportunities to serve where our church and I could be a part.  There are always opportunities.  There is always a list.   One of those was through Raceway Ministries at the speedway in Martinsville where NASCAR comes to town every year.  And as Paul Harvey would say, “that’s the rest of the story”.   Not sure how many races I have been to, but I can tell you that I have only watched a few laps of some race.  In these years I have met thousands of race fans from all over the country and some foreign countries. It has been full of conversations.  Full of praying for people.  Full of talking about life, sharing snacks and coffee, giving golf cart rides from one place to another and so much more.   But the best part …  We get to talk about Jesus.  Not only does our team host worship services at the speedway before the big race, but ...

  We are back at the speedway serving along side some of the greatest team members in all the world.  Raceway Ministries in Martinsville offers refreshments, worship services, ADA guest assistance and lots of conversations about Jesus.  It is an honor to serve at our local speedway. Romans 1:10  NLT   One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you.   We all have opportunities.  Do we take them?   There are opportunities around us.  Do we see them?   And even more, do we care about the opportunities given to us?   Paul prayed for opportunities as the verse above says.  His eyes were open, and he was asking for a chance to use his story to help others.  We have the same kind of opportunities.   This week is just one more of those for the team I get to serve with.  It is time for the work of Raceway Ministries at Martinsville Speedway.  When the world comes to ou...

  In one week I will be on my way back to Cuba for a mission trip and to support the FCA sports ministry there.  This weekend I will be serving with our Raceway Ministry team at the speedway.  It really is an honor to serve. The Raceway Ministry team has been serving in Martinsville and at Martinsville Speedway for a lot longer than I have been here.  This is my 24th year.  Our team provides services and ministry to race fans that includes worship services, refreshments, ADA handicap assistance and sharing the Gospel with fans.  It is a great place to serve with so many opportunities. Please pray for the Raceway Ministry teams that serve at speedways every where and specifically here is Martinsville.  This weekend and the last weekend in October are sure to offer lots of conversations about Jesus.   We get to serve. 1 Corinthians 12:5  NLT  There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.   This is one of those times where we learn to do what God has called us to do.  As I shared yesterday, it will be a busy week and weekend for many in our church as we are part of ministry at Emmaus, the speedway and on a mission trip. It all began 24 years ago with Raceway Ministries Martinsville.  One great outreach in our community happens two times per year or more.  We have met and served thousands of race fans from all over the world. Conversations, praying for people, snacks and coffee, golf cart rides and more.   But the best part is we get to talk about Jesus.  It is happening again this weekend! Another thing happened even longer ago.  It was 30 years ago when I first went on a mission trip to Honduras, and most recently in Cuba.  But mission trips happen in so many places from close to home to far off.  We ge...

  This is going to be a full week and provide lots of opportunities.  I ask that you pray for our people and others who are serving in various places. Isaiah 55:6  NLT   Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Several ladies from our church will be part of the Emmaus walk this weekend and join a great number who have been part of this incredible spiritual time.  Pray for them and their families as well as the work God will do in their lives. 1 Peter 4:10  NLT   God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.   It was over 222 years ago that I first had the opportunity to serve with the Raceway Ministries Martinsville team, and it is an incredible opportunity.  Since then I have had the honor of serving with Raceway Ministries in various ways.  It is an honor to share Jesus with race fans at the speedway.   This stuff happens at races all over the world.  There are men and women giving their time to serve the racing community.  They offer worship services, counseling, refreshments, Jesus conversations and more.  I have met so many people committed to making a difference in a place where few others will go.     In Martinsville our team offers several different things, and it is also a blessing to work along side the leaders and team of Martinsville Speedway.  Sunday morning before the race this weekend there will be a worship service for race fans.  We will have a team of cart drivers helping fans w...
