  Thursday of holy week.  Some refer to this day as Maundy Thursday, and it is one of the biggest, most important and memorable days of the Easter season. It really is holy Thursday that inaugurated the Lord’s Supper.  Jesus shared with His closest followers the meaning of his body and blood in the foreshadowing of His death that was only hours away. In that prepared room, where the passover was celebrated, several acts and parts of the conversation left marks on all who heard. First is the meal itself.  No more is the remembering of former times, but now it is what Jesus did. 1 Corinthians 11:25-26  NLT   In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood.   Holy Week is a time to focus on God and His gifts to us.  Maundy Thursday is a special day.  It is often called Holy Thursday reminding us of Jesus’ interaction with His disciples as he instituted the Communion and washed their feet.   John 13:34  NLT So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.    Thursday of Holy Week is one of the best known of the week.  It is the first observance of the Lord’s Supper and the Passover with His closest friends.  Jesus shared the meaning of His blood and body that we continue to celebrate.  It is in Jesus’ body and blood that we find the forgiveness of sin and redemption.     The conversations that took place around that table must have been amazing and powerful.  It would have been eye opening to be there.     What would you do if you knew you had 24 hours to live?   G...

Thursday of Holy Week was one of the most important days of the week.  It was the beginning of our remembering Jesus through communion or the Lord’s Supper.  It was during the Passover meal that Jesus was with his closest people.  Then we move to the place where Jesus was arrested, what took place in the Garden.   It is known as Maundy Thursday.  That name relates to the latin word for speaking to the instruction as in Jesus giving His disciples during the last supper.  It is also called Holy Thursday.  Here is how it unfolds.   Matthew 26:26-29  NLT   As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Thursday of Holy Week was one of the most important.  It holds the beginning of an important part of our faith journey we know as communion or the Lord’s Supper.  That happened during the Passover meal that Jesus had with those closest to Him.  The other part of Thursday was the arrest of Jesus and what took place in the Garden that night. It is known at Maundy Thursday which relates to the latin word for command speaking to the instruction Jesus gave His disciples during the last supper.  It is also called Holy Thursday.  Let’s pull it in to the two happenings and watch how they unfold. It also is the first observance of what we know as the Lord’s Supper.  With His closest friends and followers Jesus shared the meaning of the blood and body that we celebrate with communion.  In Jesus’ body and blood we find the forgiveness of sin and the redemption we all need.   I am overcome with emotion when I think about the conversations that took place around that table.  What I wouldn’t give to be there.   Great question.  What would you do if you knew you had 24 hours to live?  That is what Jesus knew.  It was H...
