keep on trusting

Isaiah 12:2  NLT See, God has come to save me.  I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.” Lots on my mind.  In fact the last several days have been almost a blur.  God has continued to do so many things, but I have also experienced some of life’s most difficult things. Death.  I don’t like it, and it hurts much.  Loosing a friend or a family member is hard to handle.  But what is not so hard is trusting God and not fearing all because we know that God is in control, and God is our strength.  Victory comes in many different forms, like the verse says. Death is also victory. Take some time to look back through your choices and your reason for living.  I am excited about some of the things and events ahead.  I am excited that my children are finding life and choosing to live and enjoy i...

following God when it matters most

2 Chronicles 31:20-21   NLT In this way, King Hezekiah handled the distribution throughout all Judah, doing what was pleasing and good in the sight of the Lord his God.   In all that he did in the service of the Temple of God and in his efforts to follow God’s laws and commands, Hezekiah sought his God wholeheartedly. As a result, he was very successful. Hezekiah was a great king.   He did what was right before God and before the people.   One of the great things we learn from the verses about this king is that he stayed close to God.   In fact at one point Hezekiah was very sick and pleaded with God for more time.   God gave him more years. The verses above remind us that to simplify your life is important.   Every area of life is important.   We cannot put God in one area and out of others.   We are either all in or not in at all. This king sought God in every area of his responsibility as well as in his personal life. ...

lessons from the king

Sunday I shared a message with our church about King Hezekiah.   He wasn’t one of a kind, but he was somewhat of a rebel in his day.   The kings before him and after him cared very little about the things of God. Similar to the people that Joshua addressed in Joshua 24 we must make a choice who we will serve.   Some have made poor choices to follow what other people say, but Joshua was forthright about what he and his family were going to do.   They chose to follow God no matter what. Hezekiah did that as well.   His choices determined the results and had a great impact on the people around him. 2 Kings 18:3-7   NLT He did right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father David had done. 4  He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it; and it was called N...
