power in Psalm 1

This is the last e-devotion for this week.  It is always an honor to be able to share with you thoughts from God’s word.  This week and next I will share some pieces of Scripture that mean the most to me.  Let’s enjoy some time with Jesus! Nothing super deep.  Nothing too big.  But profound and strong. This week we are walking through Psalm 1.  Some of the first verses I remember when I came to know Jesus and learned to walk with Him.  God has spoken to me from this chapter for year.   Living by faith is not a simple task, but it is important.  Learning the difference between faith and feeling, truth and lies, real life and fake life is vital.  The person who chooses Jesus finds the following truth: Psalm 1:1-3  NLT   Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2  But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They...

Another day in Psalm 1

  This is the e-devotion.  It is an honor to be able to share with you some of the incredible parts of God’s word.  Over the next couple weeks I will share some pieces of Scripture that mean the most to me. Nothing super deep.  Nothing too big.  But profound and strong. We continue what we started yesterday walking through Psalm 1.  God has spoken to me from this chapter many times.   The person who chooses God, follows His way and seeks Jesus will find some things true about themselves.  Here is what they or us with know. Psalm 1:1-3  NLT   Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2  But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Yet those who do not walk with God will find a diffe...

Walk through Psalm 1

  Welcome to the e-devotion.  It is an honor to be able to share with you some of the incredible parts of God’s word.  Over the next couple weeks I will share some pieces of Scripture that mean the most to me. Nothing super deep.  Nothing too big.  But profound and strong. That is why I start here… Psalm 1 is a powerful truth.  God has spoken to me from this chapter many times.  Here it is: Psalm 1:1-3  NLT   Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2  But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. The place where God speaks most is the place we find ourselves close to Him, seeking God and enjoying Him. Take some time to begin this path through Psalm 1, and join me again tomorrow for the...

Psalm 1

  One of my favorite passages of Scripture is from Psalm 1.  That is for several reasons, and I would like to share with you just a few of those reasons. First, I know that I need God and His word.  Getting in to it.  Digging in to the Word of God changes my life.  Plus the more of it that is in me and in my mind the more of God will be heard. Second, I remember learning from some Godly people as I was growing up hw this passage hits home for those seeking God.  It gives direction and strength.   Third, I remember in the middle 90’s as we served on mission trips in Honduras standing next to a tree that vividly made this passage come to life for me. Fourth and finally, these verse ring in my head often.  Just like they have this morning. Psalm 1  NLT Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.  2  But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day...

blessed by God

There are signs all around us of what is blessed by God.  Since early in my walk with God I have used Psalms 1 as sort of a measuring rod to what is and what isn’t blessed by God. Psalms 1  NASB How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish. I’d say that is a pretty clear word on being blessed.  My desire is to be blessed and a blessing...
