pray through temptation

  One week away from the back2school big day and outreach.  Pray for the students we will serve and their families.  Pray for the teams of people who will serve students.  Pray for the final resources needed (wide ruled notebook paper and 1” three ring binders, as well as a few other items).  God will supply and will bless these young people. I have asked us to go through what we know as the Lord’s Prayer.  One of Jesus’ disciples asked for him to teach them how to pray.  This prayer guides us how we pray as well reminds us of the importance of prayer.  Here is what Jesus shared. Matthew 6:9-13  NASB   “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Th...

weakness

  2 Corinthians 12:10  NLT That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Paul spoke from experience.  You have had experiences through your journey, too.  Some of them are difficult.  Some are out of your control.  Some can hardly be explained.  But too often they demonstrate the fact that we are weak. It is when we are weak that we need something to help.  That help might come from getting someone to help with lifting or with a problem you cannot seem to solve on your own.  That help may come by someone simply taking your place.  Help might come treatment or medicine or through time. Does some weakness have no answer?  I subscribe to a theory that there is weakness we cannot overcome, but we know someone who can and will overcome for us. That would ...

using our weakness

A new day and many opportunities have come our way. Yesterday I asked you to find the thread through several verses, and I will encourage you to do the same today. Psalm 136:23  NLT He remembered us in our   weakness.   His faithful love endures forever. Romans 8:26  NLT And the Holy Spirit helps us in our   weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 2 Corinthians 12:9  NLT Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in   weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my   weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. Hebrews 4:15  NLT This High Priest of ours understands our   weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. I am guessing you have found the thread in these verses.  Yesterday we spoke of s...

perspective of strength

2 Corinthians 13:9   NLT For we rejoice when we ourselves are weak but you are strong ; this we also pray for, that you be made complete. Where I am weak, He is strong.   Take a look at your life.   What struggles have you been through?   What turns have you been led to take?   What barriers have you come up against? The power of Scripture amazes me.   It is not just words, but the Bible holds life and so much for us.   It reveals to us God and the truth about God. God is powerful.   When our strength is drawn from something stronger than us, then we have loads of more power!   We have strength to get through the battles.   1 Corinthians 1:23-24 NASB but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24  but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. When His strength is ours, life is much different.   The dar...
