Jesus said "I am"...

There are several things that Jesus says about Himself in the Bible.  We can call these promises.  They are really descriptions of our God.  They are reminders for us of who Jesus is. Many of these statements can be found in the “I AM” statements throughout the Bible and some of the best are in the book of John.   First, I am the bread of life (John 6:35).   Second, I am the light of the world (John 8:12).   Third, I am the gate (John 10:9).   Fourth, I am the good shepherd (John 10:11).   Fifth, I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25-26).   Sixth, I am the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).   Seventh, I am the vine (John 15:5).   Seven powerful statements about the character of God.  We know and have experienced the moving and blessings of God.   How have you experienced Jesus?  It is true that every one of us have a different testimony, but each on reflects who Jesus is.  Take som...

Jesus said I am

Reminders are one of the best gifts God gives us.  Many of these come from things that just come from every day life and circumstances, but as you might agree, there is no such thing as luck or coincidences.  God is working. God loves us and has a plan for our lives.  Because I believe that the Scripture comes to life and seems to be just for me, or for you in your case. Take it to heart.  Take it all in.  Who is Jesus?  Oh, He is life and love, savior and son of God, friend and faith giver, gift from heaven and grace of God, lover of people and so much more. Let’s turn to the Gospel of John and the statements that Jesus made.  These give me stuff to hang on to as well as confidence in who I believe in.  Jesus really does hold our lives. So, what does the Gospel of John record for us? In the Gospel of John Jesus referred to Himself as the I Am and stated a truth about His work and character.   I am the bread of life.   I am t...

he is I AM

I shared a message yesterday at our church talking about the name of God known as “I AM”.  In the Gospel of John Jesus referred to Himself as the I Am and stated a truth about His work and character. I am the bread of life.  I am the door.  I am the good shepherd.  I am the true vine.  I am the resurrection and the life.  I am the way, the truth and the life.  I am the light of the world.  Each one true of our Savior as He leads us closer to God. But we backtracked a long way in to history to talk about a conversation that Moses has with God at what we have learned to call the Burning Bush.  That was a pivotal day for anyone of faith. Exodus 3:13-14  NLT But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” 14 God replied to Moses, “I am who i am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent m...

40 I am's

Powerful truth when applied gains more power.  It is kind of like an engine with problems.  It just doesn’t run right even when it has fuel.  But when that engine is tuned up and cleaned out, it will preform with much more power. Think of your life as an engine.  God made you and I to be successful and strong.  But when our lives are stuck or full of the wrong things or void of God, we will not be very powerful. I challenge you this Friday to confess and put in place these powerful truths (long but good list ahead): I AM… 1. A CHILD OF GOD – ROMANS 8:16 2. REDEEMED FROM THE HAND OF THE ENEMY – PSALMS 107:2 3. FORGIVEN – COLOSSIANS 1:13-14 4. SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH – EPHESIANS 2:8 5. JUSTIFIED – ROMANS 5:1 6. SANCTIFIED – 1 CORINTHIANS 1:2 7. A NEW CREATURE – 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 8. A PARTAKER OF HIS DIVINE NATURE – 2 PETER 1:4 9. REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW – GALATIANS 3:13 10. DELIVERED F...

I am, who is Jesus

There are several things that Jesus says about Himself in the Bible that help us understand and even experience God in deeper ways.  Some of the best are the “I Am” statements in the book of John. Let me give you those statements and then close with a couple thoughts to draw up near to Christmas… First, I am the bread of life (John 6:35). There are seven powerful statements about the character of God.  We know and have experienced the moving and blessings of God.  We will continue to experience this! What draws this back to Christmas?  It is the names that Jesus is called BEFORE He was even born.  Think about it! Ma...
