Romans 12:2   ESV Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by   the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may   discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Being like the world or loving what the world loves is a big problem. It is hard to point people to Jesus or have a great testimony if you look like or act like everyone else. You might call this swimming up stream or being different.  But what it really is about is an understanding that God has a plan.  His love is different from what the world shows us about love.
