remember the memories

Acts 3:20  NLT Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.   I have lots of memories that I cherish and remember well.  You probably have a few of these that come to mind.  Might be encounters I remember about different people or about things that happened.    It is times with God that come to mind and maybe the special places that I think of.  It is often the people who have meant so much.  Some are family.  Some are people who poured into my life.    1 Samuel 12:7  NLT  Now stand here quietly before the lord as I remind you of all the great things the lord has done for you and your ancestors.   In middle school I spent some afternoons mowing yards with my one of my teachers.  I remember several of the conversations about faith and Christianity.    Sometime around 1985 our youth group went on a retreat.  It was...

honor your parents

One of the joys in life is to make your parents proud and to honor them.  You might have had a different experience growing up.  I was blessed in so many ways. This week is one of those times where I have am having lots of memories flood my mind as I spend some time with my brothers finish clearing out our parents home.  This is not easy, yet all around us are signs of blessings as well as memories that we will cherish. We choose to honor our parents.  God gave them to us.  We miss mom and dad very much, and they taught us so many things.  Lots of laughs and even tears are expected through this process. That is why I want to remind you to honor your parents in every way you can.  There are lots of reasons to do just that. Exodus 20:12  NLT   “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. That is actually one of the 10 commandments.  It is not a suggestion. Matthew 1...

places and people I remember

Acts 3:20  NLT Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah. Some places are more special than others.  You probably have a few of these that come to mind as they do for me.  I love to remember several of these as well as plan for more. The encounters I remember several different people.  First, it is about time with my God.  Several hold a special places in my heart.  I learned much in those spots where I got quiet and heard from God. Second, it includes people who mean much to me.  Some are family.  Some are people who poured into my life.  All are significant. 1 Samuel 12:7  NLT  Now stand here quietly before the lord as I remind you of all the great things the lord has done for you and your ancestors. Here are a few of the places that hold a special place in my heart.   --- In middle school I spent some afternoons working with my one of my...

the importance of family

Exodus 20:12   NLT Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. It is good to be home.   I am not talking about the structure where I live with my wife and children.   I am talking about the place where my parents and brothers are.   My oldest daughter and I are in Oklahoma to spend time with my family and to celebrate my niece getting married.   I enjoy being here. About five months ago I began getting text messages and eventually a phone call saying that my mom was on the way to the hospital because she had broken her ankle.   It has been a long road as she has been in a nursing/rehab facility since that happened.   She is finally gaining strength and hopes to be home by the middle of this month.   Thank you for your prayers. The days and weeks went by.   We talked on the phone and through text messages and Facebook posts, but there was more to it than th...
