election day

Today is Election Day.  We have the awesome opportunity and responsibility to share our thoughts by voting.  This is one of our rights as an American.   I am an American and a Christian.  Those two things go together but not because all Americans are Christian.  I was born in the United States.  I am a Christian because Jesus forgave my sins and is the one I choose to follow.   Because I am a Christian and an American I want to share what I believe with others.  It is important that we do what we believe is right.  Doing what is right is not always the popular, but it is always right.   Romans 15:2  NLT We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.   US citizens are given the responsibility of voting.  In some countries around the world voting is not an opportunity.  In some countries Christians are persecuted and oppressed.  We really are blessed, and that is one more rea...

faith and voting

Tomorrow is election day in the United States, and I encourage you to vote.   Make sure that your faith impacts how you vote because God’s standard for us is important.   I read the following in a weekly newsletter I received from the ministry Strategic Renewal: Christians need to do more than listen to the word preached once a week—they need to go hard after God daily and seek His strength to be godly witnesses for Christ in their circles of influence. The word of God urges us to pray for our government leaders, and we can correctly apply that to praying for the upcoming elections… May we literally live out what we believe.  May our lives, our words, our actions and even our voting portray the reality of our faith and our God.   Romans 13:1  NLT   Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. Spend some time today praying for our nation.  Ask G...

perspective

Just some quotes.  As the day after the election arrives I am more convinced than ever that God is in control.  No, I don’t like all the results nor situations outside of my control.  We know that God is still God. We know that God loves people, you and me and others.  We know that God has a plan to give hope where there is none.  We still know that you and me can be gracious tools of God’s peace for the people we encounter.  Our perspective makes a difference.  Dig in for a few minutes on this quotes: Philippians 4:7  NLT   Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. No matter what happens on November 8th, Jesus will still be King on November 9th. - Shane Pruitt  Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies. - Mother Teresa You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will ne...

vote today

Today is voting day, election day, in the USA.  We have a great privilege to live in this land.  Yes, things may be hard and troubled, but we have so many blessings that others around the world don't.  If you haven't voted yet, step up and exercise your right and responsibility to do so.  I am praying for our nation and leaders today.  Join me. Why vote?  Be a good citizen.  Honor God and the standards He calls us to hold.  Make a difference. Where should we focus?  These are tough times, but all around us are all kinds of blessings.  What we choose to focus on changes everything for us and others.  Choose to be negative and you will lead others to be negative.  Be position and see how others begin to see the light or dream big. Why even care?  Many think that they will not make a difference to vote or to be kind or to go out of our way for someone else.  We should stop looking at the struggle and what holds ba...

immigration, the election and dealing with fear

2 Timothy 1:7    ESV for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. It has been one week since Election Day.   There has been so much said, done, challenged and words through around during the election and after.   That is why I take a few minutes to share something close to my heart. In the past two years we have had the honor at The Community Fellowship to host a brand new Hispanic church as well as our own Hispanic worship service in our building.   Pastor Miguel Galdamez and Pastor Reinel Castaneda have become dear friends as we partner to share the love of God with many more people, especially those who speak Spanish. During this election much fear has risen especially from those who are in our country and not citizens.   It is true that some of those people are here illegally.   Please understand that I am not making a political statement this post, but I chose to make a spiritual statement that is ...
