How to help with Harvey

Below is an email from one of our disaster relief leaders about helping with hurricane relief ... I want to share some information with you that you can provide to your churches as they seek how to help in the hurricane Harvey response. In particular see bold underlines section. Please discourage collection of "things", as it creates a difficult distribution problem.   SO, WHAT CAN BE DONE NOW? First of all pray.  Pray for those impacted, the first responders, emergency management, disaster responders and planners. Pray for open hearts to the Gospel. Pray for wisdom in planning and safety while traveling. Finally, pray that God's will be done and that He be glorified in the midst of this tragedy.  Give.  Thanks to the SBC of Virginia missions offering,  Vision Virginia , your partnership goes toward these disaster relief efforts. hurricane relief in Texas

With the horror of Hurricane Harvey still spilled it’s rain and flooding all over Texas we have an opportunity to step up in several ways.   Within this devotion I ask that you create action steps, if you haven’t already to serve those in the deepest needs. Colossians 1:11   NLT We also   pray   that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you   need . May you be filled with joy, First and foremost, pray.   Pray for those in harms ways.   We continue to hear and see stories or people trapped due to flooding, of the destruction of property and the fear that is gripping those in the midst.
