are you stuck? :: Tuesday E-Devotion

Do you feel like like and your circumstances drain the life out of you?  Are you living on fumes?

Too many people live life off of an empty tank and with no energy when God intends for us to live out of the overflow and to be enjoying life.  I am not talking about the old thought of 'party while you can', but what I am thinking and sharing is that we need to be living life to the max.  Living out of the overflow is a huge deal.

Psalm 23:5 (nlt) --- You prepare a feast for mein the presence of my enemies.  You honor me by anointing my head with oil.  My cup overflows with blessings.

John 10:10 (nasb) --- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Another way to explain this thought ... are you a thermometer or a thermostat?  One tells you what the temperature is while the other sets the temperature.  Christians ought to be the ones that set the scene and the fun and temperatur of life.  Yet I dare say that most of us let life set us and drain us.  We are stuck.  Stuck living life, even failing or be tired all the time.  It is time to let God give us the overflow.

David talked about it above.  Recognizing the blessings of life will chance the way we see things and will change our situations.

The verse from John (our theme verse at The Community) says that Satan will take from us but God gives to us.  So, think about this real close for a minute.  Is life being taken from you or given to you each day?  Do you end thinking where did all the time go and why am I so tired?  Oh, do you find yourself relaxing after a great day or work and life knowing that God blessed and will do it again?  Think.

Hebrews 4:11 (nasb) --- Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.

Matthew 6:33-34 (nlt) --- Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.

Let God deal with the crud.  You care not alone.  Let God give you the overflow.  Most likely you already have it and don't see it.  Are you stuck?  Let God work...He already it.

Last thing: I love this iPod thing 'cause this week I have been encouraged by listening to podcasts from Perry Noble's series call "Stuck" and Craig Groeschel's series called "How to Be Rich".  Check them out!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
