resurrection hope [+] Tuesday E-Devotion

John 11:25 NLT
Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying."

Easter is almost here.  Without the cross that Jesus died on, we would not have the empty tomb and the resurrection.  Can you imagine what it must have been like the last week of Jesus' life?  You go from celebration on Sunday, to the last supper Jesus had with His disciples and on to Jesus' death and His coming back to life.  Those were crazy days for the followers of Jesus.

Jesus had been talking about dieing and coming back to life.  That seemed so outrageous and impossible.  But it wasn't.  They were about to see it happen right before their eyes.  In the verse above Jesus said that if you believe you will live even if you die.  Those are crazy words and hard to understand.

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

Jesus' death brings us life.  He died taking our sins with Him long before we were alive.  Now, we have to live in that fact.  That reminds me that we have to die to self so we can have the awesome hope that God alone can give.  Resurrection hope means that I have hope for the future, for eternity, if I believe what Jesus said and did was for me.

The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's great blessing was upon them all.

The disciples believed, and the entire world was radically changed in one generation after Jesus was gone from earth.  I see resurrection hope as what we will be offer people who become part of The Community Dream Center.  Our future is clear.  We have confidence because of God.  Through the truth we have been given we can offer people hope.  That is real hope that lasts and lasts and lasts.

Tell someone today that your resurrection hope is Jesus.  No matter what happens, your life is secure.  No matter how long you live, what bad situations you have to go through or any thing, you have hope.  Resurrection hope.  Hope that brings new life, new strength and new peace as well as the promise of hope forever.

For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.

Trusting the mighty power of God means we have resurrection hope.  This is Easter week.  Live in such a way that the people you are around know that Easter is a reality, your hope is real and that is alive and gives you real, resurrection hope.

Have an awesome Easter week.  Sunday is coming, and I hope you will join us for Easter worship at The Community Fellowship, 10:10am Sunday, or another church near you.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
