90 day giving challenge

for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

This is one of those subjects that is hard to share and maybe even hard to hear.  I mean you talk to people who have been to churches where all they talk about is money.  I have heard people say that tried one church and another, and while they were there they were asked for their money.

Let me address this issue.  We ought to be people who are generous.  The one thing that God told us to test him in is through our giving.  Too often the church is the place where we give people a pass on not giving.  That is just not fair.  All of us are called to be faithful and to follow what God leads us to do.

Give.  Bring your tithe in to the storehouse.  And be generous!

Proverbs 11:25  NLT
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

When we are generous, we help others and get help.  The sweet word form this last verse is refresh.  Our giving and our generous giving is used by God to refresh us and others.  That is a big deal.

Proverbs 11:25 NASB
The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered.

By giving we plant seeds.  By giving we water seeds.  By giving we literally become part of what God is doing in places we cannot go on our own.

Deuteronomy 15:8  NASB
but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.

Are you giving?  I did not ask if you write checks for 10% of your income.  I did ask if you simply are giving.  The Bible says when we are not giving of the blessings that God has given us that we are robbing from God.  Again, that is a big deal.

This coming Sunday we will be challenging our church to take a “90 day giving challenge” where people begin to give, and if at the end of 3 months if they believe God hasn’t worked in their lives, we will return all the money that they have given.  Maybe you need to join us in this challenge.  What do you think?

Church family.  Please give and give faithfully.  You can mail your offering to the church (PO Box 388, Collinsville, VA 24077), bring your offering to church on Sunday or any day we are open, or you can give online at this link: https://tcf.ccbchurch.com/goto/giving Be faithful and do what God places on your heart!

Maybe you are not part of our church but you would like to help us further the work of God and what He has called us to.  Give the same ways I mentioned above.  This would help us and allow you to be refreshing and watering others.

2 Corinthians 9:7  NASB
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

From last Sunday’s sermon comes the following verse.  Each person did what God called them to do.  We should do the same.  But that is your call.  Won’t you join me and others in the 90 day giving challenge?

Exodus 35:29  NLT
So the people of Israel—every man and woman who was eager to help in the work the Lord had given them through Moses—brought their gifts and gave them freely to the Lord.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
