what real love looks like


Being bold is something that happens when you are settled and confident.  It is not something that is gifted to those who have it all together.  Boldness is an attribute of a person who has understanding and holds tight to it.  Be confident in who you are and in what God has done for you.

Proverbs 28:1  HCSB
The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

The bold stand firm when everyone else is running away.  The bold think of others rather than just about themselves.  People who are bold make a statement about living with passion rather than living with fear.

Jesus loved people that others didn’t want to love or who didn’t think they deserved love.

Valentine’s Day has just come and gone.  The hype of this holiday and others is huge.  But the love meant by various people on this holiday is fake.  It is a love that is not lasting, and that fact is so sad.  Our love ought to be like God’s

Real love is unconditional, not lost with time or age.  Real love is based on facts, not on feelings.  That is why this passage, the love chapter becomes so real for those who know God and wish to follow Him.

Galatians 5:13   NASB

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Be careful to love like Jesus loves.  That would be very different love than the world lifts, salutes and wants.  This love is unconditional, selfless, loyal, forgiving, strong and much more.

I challenged our church yesterday to share that that reverberates.  That is the kind of love that makes a person think after you walk away.  It makes people see and know their worth.  Make sure the way you love others leaves them stronger and better.

Read the following two verses.  

Romans 12:9  NLT
Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.

 

Romans 12:9-10 The Message 

Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.

That is a new and fresh way to love others.  Don’t fake it.  Really love, and love from the center of who you are.

Help others see and know that they really are loved!

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S.
