The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
These are uncertain times we are living for many reasons including the COVID-19 virus that we are all having to deal with at this time. One friend aptly said this is a time for common sense. That is true. Let your faith stay strong and be smart.
Many things need to happen to keep us safe and strong no matter how things change, and things are changing almost by the day. Appointments are being canceled. People are being sent home from work either to work from home or being laid off. Businesses are closing because people aren’t leaving their homes. And there is so much more.
Each of us must make some decisions that will us be prepared for the coming days and weeks. Make your plans and follow the leading of the Lord.
Pray. Am I sounding like a broken record? Most likely so. But we must first and foremost stay connected to God. Prayer is speaking and listening. Don’t forget the listening.
Stock up. Everything but toilet paper. Right? Not sure about all that, but get the things you and your family will need to get through a couple weeks. This is common sense.
Protect Yourself. This is the common sense. We have to get out some or be around people. Protect yourself by washing your hands with soap often. Do cover your cough, but if you are sick stay home. Ask others to help if you need to get items. Don’t be around those who are sick, and if you must be around, be safe like keeping your distance. Disinfect the places where sickness sticks around like surfaces that people touch.
Think of others. You might have way more than enough food. Then share with others. You might be going out and know someone who shouldn’t. Ask to help by picking up items. Most of us are fixing meals at home. Call your neighbor and ask if you can drop of a plate of food at their front door. Again, if you are sick, stay home because you care for others.
This stuff seems simply, but really these times need us all to stay calm, think clearly and be ready for almost anything. That is where we have to trust God… the anything. We don’t know what might be next.

My prayer for you, for my family, for our church and for others is that we will know God personally more than ever as a result of all that is happening. That is another reason to be prepared. Life is difficult, but God is good.
