You're the light in this darkness
You're the hope to the hopeless
You're the peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Those lyrics are from Chris Tomlin’s song God of This City. That song has been around for a long time, and it remains true. I am grateful that they continue to run through my mind.
Sunday morning I began a new series at The Community Fellowship titled “What Victory Looks Like”. I spoke from Genesis 12 about Abram choosing to follow God’s lead with blind faith. He left his home to go to a land that God would show him when he arrived.
I believe each of us have victory ahead if we choose to follow God. Literally to bless God opens the avenue for us to blessed by God and for others around us to be blessed, too. What we have to lean on, believe in and push for is that God isn’t done. He is working around us.
Through the coronavirus God is working. Through the unrest around our country God is working. And the answer is, and has always been, that we need the hope that Jesus alone offers.
That is why I remind us that “greater things are still to be done”. It is true in our city and around the world. With our God the victory is ours and promised. Take that promise to heart and hold it tight. Stay close to God and listen to His leading. That might mean we leave our home like Abram did. That might mean we walk across the street to our neighbor. That might mean confessing what we have done wrong and doing right.
Psalm 31:19 NLT
How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.
May we be the ones who believe God for the victory to come.
