Here we are are.  The decorations are going up.  The electricity in the air.  It is thick, it is fun and it will be gone before you know it.


That is why I challenge us to slow down just a bit to answer the question “Who Is Jesus?”  There are many answers.  There are even many suggestions.  One said, he is either a lair, a lunatic or He is Lord.  You choose.


Maybe you don’t need that reminder, but most of us do.  It is not that I don’t like Christmas.  It is often that I dislike how so many celebrate it making it about the stuff and not the Savior.  Really it is about Jesus and who He is.  There is more to God than we might give Him credit for.


Isaiah 9:6  NASB

For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.


Is Christmas just for the children?  I mean the presents, the myth of a heroic figure doing the magical and spinning around the world spreading joy seems great, but there is more to this season than Santa.  There is more to life than religion.  It is about a Savior who wants to have a relationship with us.


Matthew 1:21  NIV

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”


Jesus came to earth, sent by the Father, to complete a special task, a given purpose and to do for us what we could not do for ourselves.


John 1:14  NASB

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.


My prayer for this Christmas is that we will focus on Christ and the real meaning of this season, and every season.  May we experience the glory of God that is seen in the Son of God!


Hebrews 1:3  NLT

The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
