peace and what?


 

Yesterday we talked about peace, and I take us on a similar trip today.  


Yesterday was about living with peace.  Today is about what peace might add.  That is add to our lives or to wherever peace shows up.  It is amazing to look at peace from the eyes of a person who has God in their hearts and God is guiding their steps.


Watch what God adds when peace is present.


Psalm 34:14  NASB

Turn from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.


One thing that peace does often is make us continue to seek peace.  Where God gives us peace, He will multiply it on and on.


Romans 14:19  NASB

So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.


As we pursue peace we will pursue the things that make peace possible.  All the while we realize that peace builds up people and builds our relationships.  Peace makes us stronger.


Psalm 119:165  NASB

Those who love Your Law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble.


Peace keeps us on the proverbial straight and narrow path.  It helps us stay close to God and what God loves.  Literally peace keeps us from stumbling over the daily things that trip up many people.


Isaiah 39:8  NASB

Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “For there will be peace and truth in my days.”


It is the Word of God spoken over us that is good.  Those people, the people of God, enjoy peace and truth.  In fact they hold peace and truth in high regard all the time.


Ephesians 2:17  NASB

And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near;


Finally, peace add people.  Peace brings those who do not know God closer to Him and guarantees that salvation is shared with more and more people.


Peace and lots of things add life to you and to me.  Seek peace.  Pursue what gives us even more peace.  Peace builds each of us up.  And there is more to come.  But notice that peace is always part of the mix.


Thank God for His peace.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
