One of the most important things we can be is an influence. Every one of us has influence over others. But is that influence a good or bad thing?
Think about it. What mark do you want to leave on the lives of the people around you? Some people are so self centered that all they think about themselves. Others are always things about leaving a positive mark on the lives of the people they know and even the ones that they are around only a short time.
Take a few minutes and read the following verses. You either win or lose. You either leave a positive or negative mark on others. You either make people better or leave them worse than you found them.
Read on. These verses are eye opening.
2 Peter 1:5-9 NLT
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. 8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
God’s promises help us respond differently. Put in your life and build your character on these things. Be more productive for Christ and His call on your life.
Fail to add these great things to you life then you fall short or are shortsighted.
Philippians 4:8-9 NLT
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
I want to influence the people around me in a good way. I want people to be better after they have been with me. That is not because I am better than anyone else. I want them to be more like Jesus, to know Jesus and to know how much God values them.
Will you leave people encouraged or discouraged, better or worse, stronger or weaker. Leave a positive mark on the people around you!
