live on mission

Colossians 4:8  NASB

For I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts;

It is time that we, as followers of Jesus, live on mission.  Live out the purpose that God has placed in your heart.

For the last two decades there has been so much shared, talked about, written about, seminars about and so much more about being “on mission” as a church and as individual Christians.  Know your purpose and live it out as your mission.

God has called His people to give Him glory and tell others of His goodness. That is purpose.  It is a great mission that we have to embrace.  Yet the problem is we often choose not to live with purpose.

We have talked about this several times.  I have shared my life’s mission and purpose with you in there e-devotions.  And I am overcome with what He has done in me.

One of those places that I know my purpose is at home.  My wife and children are a huge part of my purpose.  Our church and the mission to share His love with our community and beyond are part of my God given mission.  The back2school outreach is part of my life mission and the mission God has given our church.  The work I am part of in Cuba is part of my mission.

I hope you get that.  Choose now.  Live on mission.  Know your personal mission.  Watch God work all around you.

Proverbs 31:8-9  NLT

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. 9  Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.

Titus 3:14  NLT

Our people must learn to do good by meeting the urgent needs of others; then they will not be unproductive.

How do you find your mission?  Stay in the word of God.  Serve others.  I believe God will open your heart and eyes to His mission for you as you seek Him and serve others.

Join me in the work in Cuba.  Travel with me.  Give to this work and assist with trips.  God is doing incredible work in the lives of athletes across Cuba.

Join us in the outreach of back2school.  This next week is the big week.  Tuesday at 6pm we are packing backpacks.  Next Friday and Saturday we are serving students.

Live on mission.  Let’s do what God has called us to do!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you

why is it Good Friday?

Holy Week is the time we focus on God and His gift of salvation.  We come to Friday.  The day we remember the cross, Jesus’ death and all God has done for you and me   Why do they call this day “Good Friday” because it doesn’t seems good?   Jesus was treated as a criminal.  He was beaten so much that He could not recognize Him.  His pain would have been too much for you or me to endure.  That is especially from Scripture I’ve read or as in the movie the  Passion of the Christ .   Yet it is a good day.  It is Good Friday because God had our good in His heart.  What Jesus did that day changed our forever direction. Here are some thoughts that come to me:   He is Redemption and Redeemer   He too our Pain and Punishment   He is our Righteousness and Reality   He is the Savior and Life   All of those happened from the cross.  It was meant for the worst lawbreakers.  It was not meant for a Savior who never broke a law.  It was lifted high so that onlookers could see the price Jesus.   Look
