Hebrews 6:19 NLT

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.

This past Sunday we finished our series from Hebrews at The Community Fellowship. It has been a fast 6 weeks as we hits the highlights of the book, but there is so much more we can cover. The hope God gives holds us tight.

Hebrews is a powerful book and connects us to the foundation that is the most important, God’s truth. It reminds us that Jesus is greater than every thing else. If we trust anyone or anything else, we have made the wrong choice. We are called to build our foundation on faith or let God build that foundation for us. And faith comes completely from the greatness and goodness of God. Our view of God grows bigger with Jesus who is writing our story.

Hebrews 10:23 NLT

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

We know God holds us, but we too choose to not waver and hold tight to God. We can and must trust God. It reminds us that Jesus is greater. Anything that takes His place or becomes greater is an idol.

We will drift from God if our faith is week. The closer we get to God, the more like Him we become. The further from Him we are, the more we will drift and continue to drift further from God.

Hebrews 2:1 NLT

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

Over the last 6 weeks we journeyed through Hebrews noticing several truths that strengthen our faith.

First and foremost, Jesus is still speaking. Are we listening?

Second and important, Jesus is above all, supreme always. Are we giving Him that place in our world, in our lives and in our homes?

Another and just as vital truth, the closer we are to God, the more like Jesus we become and our faith is growing. When we are not close to God, the less like Jesus we look and the weaker our faith gets.

So, what is the answer? The answer is to put in place what keeps us from drifting. Drifting is a problem. The solution is to stay close to God!

May we learn from Hebrews, and all the Bible, that God is for us and is building our foundation that will stand strong no matter what we go through.

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns. One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns. wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow. He served. He valued and gave value to others. That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet. It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives. Jesus said we should do this. See the verse above. Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
