Before I move in to today’s e-devotion I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all who prayed for an supported me during the Cuba mission trip. I plan to share from the trip later this week.
Yesterday we began a new series at The Community Fellowship. We are studying John 3. We began by looking at the conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus. It was eye opening and even pointed to some of the things true of each of us.
I talked about God’s love, but one of the things that God’s love reminds us of is how God is and has changed our lives…
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NLT
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
Those verses are packed with with truth. It is truth I need to hold on to with all that I can. God has changed our lives and using our testimony and experience with Jesus to help others find their way.
The most family verse of all time is John 3:16. God’s love is moving and challenging our lives.
John 3:16 NASB
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
I close today by sharing part of a hymn with you. I love the picture of draining the oceans to write about God’s love.
HYMN. “The Love of God”
The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell.
It goes beyond the highest star And reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled And pardoned from his sin.
O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure— The saints’ and angels’ song.
Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky.
O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure— The saints’ and angels’ song.
Have a great week. God love you, and God is good.
