do something

It is easy to forget what just happened, what what went on last week or last month.  Be encouraged to not forget because people are still struggling, still dealing with loss and still need others to intervene.

This applies to the people who recently went through the horror of the hurricane.  I am reminded of the people who lost a loved one.  There are many, many situations that we should not forget and people who need your kindness and compassion.

Caring for one another is not always easy, but it is always right.  The thing we often take for granted is the fact that we stay so busy and feel like things will take too much of our time.

It only a takes a few minutes to stop and show someone you care.  Step out and do something.

Zechariah 7:9  NLT

“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.

When you feel a tug in your heart to do something, do it.  Stop and do something.  Waiting leads to forgetting about it.

You don’t have to have a lot of money or other resources to meet a need.  It might be as easy as buying a cup of coffee, letting someone go ahead of you in line at the store or walking across the street to have a conversation.  It might be something that God is leading you to do that costs a lot and much of your time.  Listen to the leading of God.  If you reminded, do something.

We can always be kind to others.  Be generous with what you have.  God will use you in greater ways than you realize.  If God gives you a desire to pray for someone, stop at that moment and pray for them.

Don’t be selfish.  Stop wasting time and energy on things that matter only a little.  People matter.  Do something kind!  Choose to make a difference.  It doesn’t matter whether you are busy or not.  It matters that you can make a difference!  Just do something.

1 John 3:17  NLT

If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
