Now we head in the direction of our back2school outreach, and it is an exciting time. Over the next several days items will be gathers, plans will be made and all the details are coming together to serve students and their families on August 2. This really is one of my favorite times of the year.
Let’s continue to learn how to pray. One of His disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. That is when “The Lord’s Prayer” became a reality, and this prayer guides in how we pray and what is important in prayer.
Over the last couple days we have begun to walk through this profound prayer and all it holds for us and our faith. One simple request from one disciple led to a powerful answer from Jesus that connects us to the Father.
Matthew 6:9-13 NASB
“Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Focus on verse 11 today. It seems very simple. A request to trust God to provide all that we need. The prayer reminds us that God is concerned about the big things in our lives and the simple things.
Do we trust God for all we need?
Philippians 4:19 NLT
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6:26 NLT
Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
There are promises that our God brings in to your life and mine. He will meet our needs. He will provide more than we expect. He will meet us where we are.
The Lord’s Prayer teaches us to trust God no matter what.
