Cuba mission trip report

Proverbs 15:30  NLT

Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.

Thank you to everyone who supported and prayed for the past mission trip to Cuba.  Since this is the first e-devotion after I have returned home, I will share with you some of the points of celebration, some of my take aways and what God did.

It was such a blessing to have Julie return to Cuba with me.  We served at Ebenezer church in the area of Havana known as Guanabacoa.  It was a great time of ministry and encouraging Pastor Julio and his wife Arelis.

I am grateful for the FCA sports ministry team in Cuba.  Roberto Texidor from Missouri leads the US board, and I enjoy traveling with him.  Alex is the Cuban leader for sports ministry.  He and his family are a great blessing.  His team are amazing people.  One of the things that I love is that this team really are pastors in their community who serve athletes and their families.  Sharing Jesus and meeting needs is their way.

The mission team from North Carolina was made up of mostly young adults in their early 20’s.  This is the first mission team I have led of young people.  It was incredible.  The devotions they shared were insightful and deep as was their love for God.  Their serving was genuine and full of joy.  There were a few on the team of older guys too.  I am grateful for their investment in Cuba

We worked with a baseball tournament called the Kingdom Games.  Over 50 young teenage boys accepted Jesus as their savior, and there were 34 baptized.  This is incredible and a praise report.  Please pray for that will connect to their local church and be discipled.

It was an honor to serve in several locations.  It is always a blessing to meet new friends and to see how God is working in so many ways, but there is even more to come.  More trips are ahead.  More needs need to be met.  More people who need to hear about Jesus, and God is working.

Will you say YES to joining the ministry team in Cuba.  Let me know if you would like to give to help this ministry and if you would like to go on a mission trip in the future.

Matthew 9:37-38  NLT

He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.  38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

Please continue to pray for Cuba.  Ask God to meet the needs of these incredible people and ask that He send more laborers to work in the harvest of souls.

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
