why back2school?

It is time to start planning our largest outreach of the year, and it is our 20th year of the church and of back2school.  That makes it even sweet.  So, why back2school?  That is a great question.  I challenge you to listen and step in to this blessing with me.

Matthew 19:14  NLT

But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”

It is for the kids!  That is the first and obvious answer for back2school.  Each student twill receive a new backpack with school supplies, new shoes and socks as well as hear the Gospel.  We cannot wait to wash each students feet and tell them about Jesus.

Job 11:18  NLT

Having hope will give you courage. You will be protected and will rest in safety.

It is for the families of each student!  This is just as important.  If you are a parent you know that blessing my children, blesses me.  When we share hope and life with others, it goes beyond the one you share with.  It all because of Jesus and His call on our lives.

1 Thessalonians 2:12  NLT

We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory.

It is for the kingdom of God!  By serving others we are serving God and sharing Him with others.  May we share His light and blessing, being the conduit of hope and the voice of salvation to each person.

This Thursday is the first meeting of the 2026 back2school outreach.  Please pray for all involved and pray that more people will get involved.

Why back2school?  It is for the children, their families and for the glory of the kingdom of God.  For the last 20 years we have served and over 42,000 students.  Yet it is not those numbers that matter.  The number that matters is one.  We serve because of the One.  Each and every one deserves to see the love God comes alive.

Exodus 29:46  NLT

and they will know that I am the Lord their God. I am the one who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I could live among them. I am the Lord their God.

We do this and encourage others to join us is so that God will is lifted up.  Why back2school?  Because we desire to serve God and share Him with others.

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
