pray for Cuba

Psalm 2:8 NLT

Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession.

It is time.  This week I get to go back to Cuba to serve on another mission trip.

All this began in February of 2019 and continues through this time.  Over these six years I have been to Cuba 18 times with hundreds of others.  All for one purpose, and that is to share Jesus with others and support the ministry of MADEM sports ministry in Cuba.

What an honor to be part of a team making such a difference, but this trip is a different.  Cuba is in crisis and has been for a long time.  Each day things get worse and more needs arise.

That is why I am letting you know there will not be more e-devotions this coming week, and I ask you to join in praying for Cuba and the sports ministry.  Here are some ways to pray.

First, pray for the country of Cuba, it’s leaders and the need for support and freedom.  The lack of electricity and fuel make each day so hard.  Food continues to be sparse.  Prices of simple items have sky rocketed.  Pray for needs to be met and for change to happen.

Second, pray for the people of Cuba and especially the church.  Pray for physical health and wellness.  Many have battled sickness.  Pray for families to continue to be close and to have what they need for themselves and their homes.

Fourth, pray for those who are not christians.  There are so many believers who are serving and sharing their faith.  Yet there are so many more who need to come to know Jesus.  Pray for salvation.

I will stop with this one (although there are many more).  Fifth, pray for the sports ministry that seeks to share Christ with athletes and coaches as well to meet needs and even start churches.  This sports ministry has done incredible work through the great leaders who are involved.  Yet the lack of resources and the ability to travel make things incredibly difficult.

Thank you for your support and prayers.  May God do the amazing and impossible things that literally help people every day and that makes heaven more crowded for eternity!

Matthew 9:36-38  NLT

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

Catalyst ticket arrived

My ticket to the Catalyst Conference, in Atlanta Oct 8-10, just arrived. I'm excited!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
