makes me stronger

Dealing with fear and allowing God to increase our faith is not easy, but it is right.  Look to His promises and walk this out.   Galatians 3:29  NASB And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise.   Know your place, your calling and the direction God is leading you.  Knowing God’s promises isn’t just for the people in the Bible or religious people.  You and I can know and need to know our promises from God.  This will change us.   Philippians 1:3  NLT Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.   That was written from Paul to some of the people he loved.  Friend, there are people who love you and are thanking God for you.  That makes life easier, better and us stronger.   Isaiah 41:10   NASB ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God...

lovd for the books of the Bible

Some scripture just stands out when you read it.  Such is Psalm 34 for me.  So many different books of the Bible are part of our lives and have special places in our lives. Proverbs is the one I am committed to each day, and I challenge you to read it daily linking the day of the month to the chapter you read.   The Gospel of John and Romans are both powerful and important books for me.  There are so many more that stand out.  Through the years of following God Scripture has been vital to life and also taught me so much. Another is Psalms.  As a young adult this book came alive to me as I spent time with God and the verses of this book worked their way in me, my heart and gave peace and understanding. That is why I point you to Psalm 34.  I have quoted some of this chapter earlier this week.  But here are part os the chapter that speak to me. Psalm 34:1-3 NLT   I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. 2...

notes from a meeting

I am spending this week with ministries that are deeply involved in helping people with physical needs and sharing Christ with them.  So in this e-devotion I am going to share some of the highlights I have gleaned so far. They are in no specific order and not from one specific topic.  I am highlighting a day full of meetings as I go through my notes.  Check it out… more to come. — Some questions to ask to help you re-evaluate your purpose:  what are we supposed to do?  Are we doing the right things? What are the right things? How do we decide what is right?  — Focusing too much on the blessings of the past may keep us from aiming higher in the future. — God calls His people to do hard things. — Do our beliefs transform us so much that we serve others? — To reach people no one is reaching you have to do things no one is doing. — We rob God when our work and life are out of balance.  Both work and living life should be done as an act of worship gi...

examine truth

Some of the most important truths that I hold didn’t come from a classroom.  These truths didn’t come from a lecture I heard.  They don’t even come from a good or powerful book that I have read. Well, that last part might not be true.  It is from a book that God authored and sent to you and me with al of His love.  The Bible is the powerful word that comes alive as we read, think about it and put it in to practice.  Read and re-read the truth that comes out. Let’s examine some of it today.  I give you Psalm 51.  This chapter has come alive over the last few weeks.  Here are some of the verses that give us truths from God, truth to live by and truth to share with others. Read and re-read.  See what sticks out for you. Psalm 51  NLT Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love.  Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. 2 Wash me clean from my guilt.  Purify me from my sin. 3 For...

what we seek

Isaiah 55:6  NASB Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.  Seeking nothing or seeking the wrong thing has become far too common.  The wrong thing and nothing will get you to the wrong and no where.     That is why we need to … Get up.  Take a look.  Ask the questions.  Then do it all again.  All the while seeking God.   Seeking the right thing, or the right person, is always right and needed.  Step a little further … Seek your purpose.  Seek to serve others.  This will help you find your purpose in life.  Live a life that matters and make a difference.   It all comes from what we seek.  That is why we have to seek God first.   Matthew 6:33  NASB But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.   1 Chronicles 16:11  NASB Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually.   Seek God.   Seek ...

power trip

Power trip . Maybe I have your attention with the time of this e-devotion, but I am not talking about the power trip that you might be thinking about.  That would be when a person has lots of authority and throws it around. What I am sharing today is a trip.  A trip through a few books of the Bible with some powerful verses that speak to my life.  There you go on a different but cool power trip.  It is a lot of verses.  Just read.  See what sticks out to you.  Here we go. Genesis 15:5  NLT   Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” Exodus 3:2-5  NLT   There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. 3 “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it....
