God's kingdom priority

Please pray that today, Tuesday July 22, that hundreds of students will register to be part of this year’s outreach.  It is the last opportunity for anyone to register to be part of the back2school outreach.  Pass the word, and please pray. Just ten days away is August 2 when we hope to serve a couple thousand students.  This really is one of my favorite times of the year.   Let us learn how to pray.  One of the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray.  And that is when what we know as “The Lord’s Prayer” became a reality, and this prayer is a guide that we can use and learn from. Simple request from one disciple led to a profound answer from Jesus that takes us to new places with the Father.  Matthew 6:9-13  NASB   “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgiv...

Jesus teaches us to pray

We move closer to our back2school outreach, and I am excited because of several different reasons.  I will confess that there have been several challenges this year.  Yet what we continue to be excited about and encouraged by is how God continues to come through. Volunteers have been so good.  Support and sponsors have come on board to help in great ways.  And there is more. Please pray that this Tuesday hundreds of students will register to be part of this year’s outreach.  Pass the word, but most of all pray. As we move toward the big day of August 2 I call your attention and mine to how Jesus responded to a request from those closest to Him.  This is something that applies to your life and mine.  Let us learn how to pray even more. Luke 11:1  NASB   It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, when He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples. Simp...

keep on praying

Ways to pray as we continue to move through summer and into this weekend… Let’s spend some time over the next couple days praying for some things where people, some of us, are working through and needing a touch of the hand of God. Pray for the back2school outreach.  Registration begins tomorrow.  Pray for students and their families. Matthew 19:13  NLT   One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. Pray for those whose lives have been touched by tragedy in recent days.  This could be from a family who has lost a loved one to those impacted by the devastating storms of recent days. Proverbs 3:25-26  NLT   You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, 26 for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Pray for those who do not know Jesus and need t...

It is that time of the year once again.  This Saturday begins registration for back2school.  Parents and care givers can come to any of the outreach locations to register their students to receive the items given out. For more information go to www.gob2s.com or send an email to emailback2school@gmail.com to find out all ab out it. The back2school outreach is one of the greatest things we have ever been part of and invited others to be part of.  It is part of the DNA and identity of The Community Fellowship, and it is out favorite outreach of the each year.  I continue to be in awe of how God uses this project to serve others.  Lives have been and will be changed once again.  Churches and volunteers are challenged and stepped up to serve.  The stories are endless.   One reasons we lead out in this project is because working with other like-minded believers is something God commands us to do.     We are stronger working togethe...

tragedy in Texas

We have all been touched in one way or another by tragedy, and in the last several days the news from the flooding in Texas has grabbed our hearts.  Let’s continue to pray for rescue efforts and for those impacted by the situation. A pastor friend shared, Dwane Massenberg, the following devotion … WHY KERR COUNTY, TEXAS? Dear God, so many were so young in Kerr County, Texas. Today, we pray for aching hearts. We pray for the families of the adults and the children who lost their lives in the recent floods. Sometimes, dear God, when tragedy strikes, people want to say that there are certain reasons why things happen in certain locations. Even now, people are starting to point fingers and make accusations. "There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell...

promises, promises

Claim promises that the Bible gives us about our great and gracious God.  There are so many promises in the Bible, but here are a few that remind me of faith, the strength of our God and how we can stay strong as a follower of Jesus. Read on.  Take note of what is important to you…   Psalm 27:1 NASB The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?   How do you deal with fear? Daniel 10:19 NASB He said, “O man of high esteem, do not be afraid. Peace be with you; take courage and be courageous!” Now as soon as he spoke to me, I received strength and said, “May my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”   Be strong because of real strength. Acts 3:19 NASB Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of ...

what do you believe?

What we believe about God is important.  In fact this reality is one that is part of who I am, and I pray it is true about you.  That is that we believe God is and He is able and He has all things in His hands. 1 Thessalonians 2:13  NLT   Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe. I want to share a song with you that has grabbed my attention.  The song sums up the issue of believing who God is. Too Good Not to Believe by Brandon Lake and Cody Carnes I've lived stories that have proved Your faithfulness I've seen miracles my mind can't comprehend And there is beauty in what I can't understand Jesus, it's You, Jesus, it's You I believe You're the wonder-working God All the miracles I've seen Too good to not believe You're the wonder-work...
