Please call others and let them know of the meeting time and place. Don’t take for granted that everyone knows what is going on. Help all of us be where we can be. Our study this week will be looking at the 5 purposes of the church as address in The Purpose Driven Life.

Fellowship Meal & Worship
5 pm this Sunday evening at Southside Park in Martinsville we will come together for a POT LUCK MEAL (bring enough food for your family and others) and for a time of singing and preaching. I am excited about sharing with you more of the vision God has placed in my heart for The Community Fellowship. Our kids will also have a time of worship just for them. Let others know, remind them about this time of being together and hearing from God

Every time we meet from now on there will be a special activity and teaching time for our children. Let the kids know it is going to be awesome.

Leadership Team
Let us know where you desire to serve. One of the awesome needs in this new church is that all of us have to do our part. Another awesome part that each of us will have the opportunity be part of is using the gifts God has given us. Our leadership team met this week, and we continue to dream and plan and prepare to be all God wants us to be. Let one of our team members know how you would like to serve. They can also answer any questions you may have. Here is our leadership team:

Final Notes
Below is a listing COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP activities through October. Please put them on your calendar, and let me know how you want to help. Pray for my family as we will be in Georgia at a family reunion through Sunday morning. We look forward to seeing you Sunday evening for worship.

I love each of you, and I am excited about all God is doing with His new church, The Community Fellowship. Pray that logistics will come together in the coming days (building, website, meeting times, paperwork, etc…). Sunday evening’s message I will be preaching is going to be awesome. As I leave you, here is a big thought that ought to make us all get even more excited about The Community Fellowship:

“For it has pleased God to tell his people that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. For this is the secret: Christ lives in you, and this is your assurance that you will share in his glory.” Colossians 1:27 (NLT)

With GOD as my guide, Your pastor and friend …

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
