Where were you 5 years ago today?
You have heard that question before and in this and other context … when the space shuttle exploded, when Elvis died, when Kennedy was shot, etc…
5 years ago today was the fiercest day of fighting in our nation’s history on our soil as terrorist invaded our land. We have heard from those who remain strong, those who lost loved ones and others that were touched in big ways by 9/11. Our nation is not the same. We are not the same. Points of history mark turning points and changes in our lives.
Continue to pray for those fighting for our freedom and those who lost their lives. May God be honored in each direction. I remember hearing our president mention some of the scripture below:
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14 (NASB)
Yesterday was my last day as pastor of The Orchard, Orchard Drive Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia as my family moved into a new ministry and in a new day. Please pray for us and for those we will work with. I will share more with you in the coming days. My contact information is below. Also, pray for The Orchard family as they seek new vision and direction fro the Lord. Pray for all of us as we go through a time of separation.
The following verses tell you a little about my heart and vision for the coming days:
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:18-19 (NASB)
