“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 (NLT)
Does Jesus have the ability to bring peace in your life when everything is wrong? Some of you answered YES. Others cannot answer because of the storm in your own like. Some answered NO since you have never experienced God’s real peace.
Peace is one of those things that seems to come and go. It is kind of like passing a patrolman on the highway when you are speeding knowing you deserve a ticket but you don’t get stopped. Peace flies away and then comes back. I am not talking about that kind of peace. Nor am I talking about the kind of peace that means the absence of war and gunfire.
What God offers us is the understanding that in the middle of the storm He is God and He is in total control. Below is one of my favorite words from God about real peace.
“Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
Is that a method for getting peace? Is that some utopia thought about peace? The answer is simple. Real peace comes by giving life and concern to God no matter your storm or situation. His peace will tough your heart and settle your mind when nothing else will.
I recently talked to a friend that said he was able to rest when a very difficult time came in his life, and the reason was that God’s peace was a gift from God when our faith is placed in Him. Do you need that kind of peace? Others will see this in your life and you will know God is using you when people ask how you can be so calm during the storm. The other side is true as well. When the storms come and you get frazzled others see that your faith is not all you think it is.
Let God give you His peace in the storm, before the storm and all the time. Let Him have it all. Life will be much different and you will see God do big stuff in and around you. I like that and need that. How about you?
