In yesterday’s devotion I shared with you a message from a pastor that ignited my fire. In it we talked about being encouraged by the companions we find in ministry.
They did it again. Last night our church’s leadership team met, and it is like we are all reading the same book, having the same thoughts and even finishing each other’s sentences. They did it again. Fact: when God is our guide, we all move in the same direction.
“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up … And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12 (NASB)
Paul was always mentioning names of people who were partners in ministry who went the extra mile, did something special or simply have a high level of commitment to God’s call. From Paul we see and learn that doing ministry TOGETHER is the best way to do ministry. Alone we are weak and inhibited. Together we can help one another.
Sitting at home yesterday I got a call from a friend that used to pastor a church in our area. Over the next 20 minutes or so I was challenged, blessed and encouraged. That friend will never know how much his call meant to me.
What can you do to partner with someone or to encourage someone you have already partnered with?
“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other—each with the attitude of Christ Jesus toward the other. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6 (NLT)
Have you ever sat in a stadium all alone and shouted and screamed? Your voice didn’t go very far and didn’t impact many people. BUT what happens when you join several hundred of your friends in that same stadium. The roar of the crowd from their shouts and screams is deafening. What is the difference? Together we are stronger.
They did it again. You do it too.
