On of my children hops in the car last night after a great children’s program at a sister church, and she quotes a movie she recently saw…
“The meaner you are to people the more flowers you get at your funeral.”
Her mother and I were shocked, and it was evident that she was trying to get a rise out of us. What do you think?
At Christmas there are so many things to do and stuff that takes our attention off of what it is really all about. I have heard several folks at our church give testimony recently to this truth: it is all about Jesus. Christmas and church are the same. They are all about Jesus.
Take our thinking and how we lead others to think.
“We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NASB)
“Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)
This Christmas season and our children’s future have huge opportunities for us to point people and ourselves to Jesus. They way we think is the place it all begins. What is in the heart comes out the mouth. Give it a chance and you will see it. Give Satan an inch and he will take a mile.
Be challenged to change the way you think so that you change what people have as purpose in their lives. It is all about Jesus. The way we think ought to be the same.
