Hebrews 11:6 (New Living Translation) --- And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
George Muller was a man of faith. A giant in his day and a huge example for ours.
Years ago (about 15) a mentor of mine handed me Muller's autobiography, and I was reminded of it last night. Muller ran Christian orphanages among other things. When he would have a need, he would call his staff and partners together to pray without telling anyone else of the need. Most of the time and in many stories in his book, a knock would come at the door or in some miraculous way the need would be met. Muller was a man of faith.
We need to be people of faith. Do we believe that God can and will hear and answer our prayers? Do we believe that he works? I need to be reminded of this, and I understand that often God is stretching me to be a man, father and pastor of faith.
Stretching us is something God does. Not liking being stretched is so very human. Yet God is building His building to live by faith in every way possible. I am there. Issues of faith ought to be some we rejoice over and even get excited about even when the issues bring with them some tough times and questions. God will answer, and God is still in charge.
Yesterday I gave you some verses from deep in my heart. Here are some as we close that follow the same lines and from the same passage...may God stretch us as we deal with issues of faith!
James 1:5-8 (New Living Translation) --- If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
