"Lose your dreams and you might lose your mind." --- Mick Jagger
What a quote from an unquotable dude! I have long understand that vision and dreams are vital to success, church and leadership. What do you think?
We serve a big God. Dream big! He is into miracles, and most often those miracles come at times we did not expect them. Think about it. The folks at the wedding where Jesus turned water into wine didn't expect to run out of wine. Lazarus and his family didn't expect Lazarus to die or that Jesus would bring him back to life. Few people outside Jesus' circle of friends expected that stone to be moved by angel and for Jesus to walk out of His grave.
Jesus is into miracles. He is into dreams. He gives us vision. And we need to hang on, hold on, tell others, write it all down and shout it as loud as we can.
One preacher said a couple things about vision that hit me hard ... "vision requires provision" and "without vision life looses it's zeal".
Boys and girls, we need vision. We need God given, God honoring, God filled vision that leads people to find God and where God does miracles of changing lives and getting the attention of the people around us. Miracles get people's attention. What do you think?
Proverbs 29:18 (kjv) --- Where there is no vision, the people perish...
Job 33:14-16 (nlt) --- For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears...
Know what excites me and gets me pumped up about the church? It is the dreams God gives me. Some people say they are wrong or outrageous or even impossible. Need a reminder? I do.
Noah was told to build a boat when it had never rained and the water was a long way off. Abraham was told to take his God-promised son and sacrifice him. Paul and Silas sang a praise song in a prison until the doors shook open. John the Apostle was told to write a book when no one else was around for miles and millions of lives have been changed by Revelation.
I don't know about you, but I long for a group of people who hear the vision, catch the vision and run with me toward God. Man, that is what church planting is all about. Miracles are happening because God has given us the vision.
Acts 2:17-21 (nlt) --- 'In the last days,' God says, 'I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy. And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below...But everyone who calls on the name of the L ord will be saved.'
