a week at the beach // Friday E-Devotion

NOTE - e-Devotions for the next two weeks may be sporadic as we will be on vacation and then on a mission trip. Please be patient if you encounter problems. Thanks for allowing me to be part of your spiritual journey.

In a recent sermon we talked about where we see God, feel God and are in AWE or in wonder of God. One of the places we talked about is the beach. That's where we are headed, and this is gonna be off the hook.

Psalm 97:6 (nasb) --- The heavens declare His righteousness,And all the peoples have seen His glory.

Romans 1:19 (nasb) --- because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.

Years ago I learned what it was like to enjoy God. That is to sit still, lean back, listen up and let His peace shout at me and in me. That is a huge deal. This week every year is some of that for me. It is strengthen for the entire family. It is time together and time to reflect.

We have lots to reflect on this year. It has been a year of new roads to take. Most recently, a new home that we own (our first). Months ago, a new church planted from my heart and with my feet and friends. Days before that, great pain in leaving a place and people I loved. All of that that led to us seeing and enjoying Jesus more and more.

Sitting by the ocean is going to be great.

REFRESHING from God.

RE-VISIONING (not a word, but a sweet concept) to keep me going.

RECREATION with the fam and some good friends.

REINVENTING the new growth we now know as The Community Fellowship.

I am greatly for this last year, since our last trip to the beach. Some of you will remember that those were tough, trying and tearful days of struggles and questions. This year is one of peace and rest. In fact, I am going to try some new things while I am away, and I am OK with them. The cell phone will be turned off and messages checked no more than once a day. Talk about church will be about dreaming and what can be not what could have been. Time with family will be more focused and building. Reading more than normal digging in for depth with God.

Join me and enjoy our God...

Psalm 95:5 (nlt) --- The sea belongs to him, for he made it.His hands formed the dry land, too.

Psalm 96:11 (nlt) --- Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice!Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!

Psalm 98:7 (nlt) --- Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!Let the earth and all living things join in.

This is going to be 7 days and nights of great time at the beach...

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
