Proverbs 19:23 (nlt) --- Fear of the Lord leads to life, bringing security and protection from harm.
We will never forget the events of September 11, 2001. "Lets Roll" is the phrase from the day that I remember and hold dear. It reminds us that we cannot sit still and let our nation or our families be terrorized. We must pray for the families of victims and for our nation.
Kind of strange that the anniversary of The Community Fellowship is about the same time. Maybe that will keep us from forgetting our important event. Yet I ask that you let me draw your attention to a couple of things that happened because of 9-11:
--- The Sunday following 9-11 church attendance around the nation was at an all time high AND began to fall off just a couple weeks later.
--- Prayer and talk of God was common in the secular media for some time BUT began to disappear, again, not too many weeks later.
--- People of faith were called on to assist, which is an honor and our calling from God, YET began to be pushed aside, again, only days after.
This is not a devotion about the case of the poor, poor miserable beaten down Christian. This is a case for the church to step up and be seen and heard. This is the case for our cause which JESUS. Nothing more and nothing less. It is all about God.
The Community Fellowship's first marching orders that we talked about come from the Bible:
1 Corinthians 9:22 (nasb) --- To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.
I shouted two phrases that shaped us and have to continue to guide us (these are not original with me):
--- The church must be the most creative institution on earth because we have the greatest message to share, and
--- We are to get the attention of our community and while we have their attention, tell them about Jesus!
In closing I remind each of us that our nation is important, but even more important is our calling from God. So, "LET'S ROLL..."
1 Corinthians 9:22 (nlt) --- When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.
