#1 Christmas Favs // Friday E-Devotion

The last of Christmas Favs.  It comes down to this, and most importantly the one Fav that we cannot miss ever.  You got.  His name...JESUS.

Born at Christmas more than 2,000 years ago (not Dec 25th yet this is the day we remember).  Sent from God.  Savior of the world.  Our Savior.  My Savior and my friend.

There has been much talk this year of people who push Christ out of their Christmas.  That just cannot happen.  We need to interject Him more.  Talk about Him daily.  Let people see How Jesus would act, how He would give and what He would say.  You know, I don't think Jesus would get angry because of people misusing the holiday (its OK to disagree with me) but our Jesus would see with eyes of compassion, with a heart of understanding that people, more than ever, need Him.  There are people dying lost, going to Hell that we can share with.  Use your time.  Use the opportunities.  Tell them about Jesus.

Here is a glimpse of our Savior:

Isaiah 7:14 (nlt) --- All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means 'God is with us').

Isaiah 9:6 (nlt) --- For a child is born to us,a son is given to us.The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called:Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Matthew 1:21 (nlt) --- And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 (nlt) --- For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us.

What else can I say?  We are empty without Jesus just like our Christmas is empty without remembering Him.  Allow Jesus to fill your celebration and to direct the days to come.  You won't regret it.

The last Christmas Favs are my Children, 2 precious girls and 1 little boy.  I love watching them grow (though they are growing up too fast).  It gives me chill bumps to here them talk about God and to achieve all kinds of success (little and big).  Now, it ticks this dad off when they get selfish and such.  But that just lets me know that our job as parents is a big deal.  At Christmas, and all the time, we need to let the little ones see and hear Jesus in our lives.  Never knew I could love and care for something as much as I do these children.

1 Timothy 1:15 (msg) --- ...Here's a word you can take to heart and depend on: Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. I'm proof—Public Sinner Number One—of someone who could never have made it apart from sheer mercy. And now he shows me off—evidence of his endless patience—to those who are right on the edge of trusting him forever. Deep honor and bright glory to the King of All Time— One God, Immortal, Invisible, ever and always....

Christmas is all about Jesus!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
