1 John 1:7 (nlt) --- But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
It is all about Jesus. This season is not about you or your family. It is not about the gifts and the decorations. There is no competition. It is all about Jesus. Lets get in that light.
You see, when Jesus becomes our light, we will see things differently, act differently and find out that there is stuff about this life that matters and other stuff that doesn't. The verse above is pretty clean....God cleaned us up and gave us a new start. That was His choice because of our need. Notice also that that life and light are about relationships.
This season is about giving Him to others. It is about serving others for His. Literally, Christmas is all about Him.
John 1:14 (The Message) --- The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.
I used that verse in the sermon introduction at The Community yesterday. It's awesome. God "moved in the neighborhood." Makes Jesus sound human. He was. People encountered Jesus then. And they can encounter Him today. Remember, the Christmas story talks several times about seeing God's glory (the angel and Mary, the light of the Wise Men, the angels and the shepherds and more). His glory is not about something we can experience. It is about the life God wants us to live and experience every day. Christmas is all about Jesus.
Hebrews 13:8 (nasb) --- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Not just a baby in a manger. Not just a man on a cross, but the God who loves us all the time and forever. At Christmas we celebrate that truth and are giving countless opportunities that tell others that Christmas is all about Jesus.
