the glow :: Tuesday E-Devotion

Matthew 17:2 (nasb) --- And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.

OK, Easter @ The Community Fellowship was not the transfiguration like Matthew 17 talks about, but it was awesome.  Have you ever seen someone that glowed?  I am talking about the person who had experienced something that was awesome, and there seemed to be something glowing about them.  You have met that person or someone like that before.  It is awesome.

When God shows up, He changes lives.  Always has and always will.  Trust Him.  Let Him work.  I love the stories of how Jesus moved from place to place changing lives.  Some people were lowly or not liked by society, and others were cool people that people liked.  Jesus changed lives, all lives.  Every person was left different, and people knew that they had experienced something incredible and new, something only God could do.  That is the glow.  And we need it.

You could call it a mountain top experience or just a cool happening, but being with Jesus is one of those places we long for and want every day.  This past week I have been praying through a certain situation and every day God shows up to answer some questions or give insight into what I am thinking.  It is not time to talk about the particulars, but it is time to remember that when God works, He works in awesome ways.  He leaves us with a glow.

Philippians 2:13 (nlt) --- For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Psalm 12:6 (nlt) --- The Lord's promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over.
Live in the overflow.  After you have been with Jesus, keep the glow.  People will see and know that you are different as God works in your life.  I love those experiences that leave us different.  No, I don't look for expereinces.  Yet our relationship with God leads us to experience Him in real ways.

How was your Easter?  Are you living in the glow?

I close with pointing you toward a blog post from Carlos Whitaker.  Read this post, "Holding Worship",  and ask yourself what that glow must look like....friends, it is time to loose ourselves in Jesus and to worship with passion and gusto.  Enjoy the glow!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
