Go Green :: Monday E-Devotion

No, you won't hear that from me.  I am not talking about the environment or taking care of the planet (which are good and noble things), but I will remind you that today is St. Patrick's Day.  You better be wearing green or you're gonna get pinched.  Be careful...

My mind is so full, and God has been so good.  Our leadership team shared yesterday at church from their experience at the Unleash 08 conference.  It was sweet, but what I am most excited about is that our church family wrote on the walls of our church yesterday.  Yep, you heard me right.

I had seen this before, and we joined in.  We wrote names of people that we want Jesus to save.  It is behind the big round counter at our front door.  The names will be seen when you go to leave the church as a living reminder that God desires and calls us to demonstrate the love of God to our community in living a loud pictures presented through our lives.  It is real.  Jesus is real, and His life is still making in-roads and having huge impact almost 2000 years after His death.  Why?  Because Jesus is the reason!

Jude 1:25 (nlt) --- All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

1 John 4:15 (nlt) --- All who confess that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.
Here is a thought that ought to rock us as we think about what we, personally and as a church, do to give Jesus to the world:

"We do not get to where God wants us to go by playing it safe." - Perry Noble (taken from Unleash 08)

Think!!!  What are you going to do this week, Easter week, that will give people what will last forever and ever and ever?  It is not time to play it safe.

In the coming days and even into Sunday, I intend to challenge The Community family and readers of this e-devotion to see Christians around us as partners in the cause of Christ, not competitors.  You will have to hang with me to understand a bit more of this.  Think about it!

"We are not playing against other churches, we are playing against Satan." - Naeem Fazal

1 Thessalonians 2:19 (nlt) --- After all, what gives us hope and joy, and what will be our proud reward and crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when he returns? It is you!  (the you is people we won for Jesus and ministered to in His name)

I leave you with one thought:  Jesus is coming back.  Here is a possible introduction:

"It is my honor to introduce to you a Man who needs no introduction.  His credits are too long to list...  His mother is still headlining in the Catholic Church today.  His Daddy is the Author of the Book that has been on the bestseller list since the beginning of time..." - Steve Harvey on how he would introduce Jesus Christ (the link is a YouTube video which is real good!!!  see video in the post below)

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

  John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
