powerful partners [+] Tuesday E-Devotion

First, I have to give a SHOUT OUT to my partners in ministry at The Community Fellowship.  Our leadership team rocks!  Trey, Cindy, Kasim, Cara, Eric, April, Gordon, Susi and Lee make life and church lots of fun.  I appreciate you guys and want the world to know it!!!

Second, there are some people who encourage me in huge ways.  My wife, Julie, and our three kids.  My parents and my brothers.  My buddy Rodney over at the TV station.  My friend John in Texas too.  And many others, too many to mention.

Third, we have to be powerful partners to the people we are around.  That takes us making a choice to make a difference in the lives of the people we are accountable for.  Starting with those close to us, as in family, all the way to those we simply see at the store or drive past on the street.  We influence people every day.  Even if you don't realize it or like it, your are an influencer and can be a powerful partner to people you encounter....

Philippians 2:2 (nlt) --- Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

Galatians 5:13 (nlt) --- For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

1 Thessalonians 3:12 (nlt) --- And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.

1 Peter 4:13 (nlt) --- Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

Partnership is part of what the church and ministry is all about.  Life is much more fun when you partner with other people who have shared vision, values and lives.  Powerful partners make a difference in our world and in our lives.  Be one...

In just a few weeks we will kick off our ONE PRAYER series along with over 800 other churches (totalling some where around 500,000 people).  This series represents the church united around prayer and God purpose for His church.  There is strength in being focused in the same direction.  There is power in partnering together.  God is in the stuff like this, and we need to join Him as we join others.

NOTE: there will not be an e-devotion on Wednesday and Thursday of this week as I will be away at a conference.  Whiteboard Sessions is gonna be awesome.  Check out the website.  Pray for my fam while I am away.  Thanks and see you Friday!

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
