just out of our reach [+] Monday E-Devotion

Matthew 9:37-38 (esv) --- Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."

This has been a great weekend for our church and for another church in our community.  Community Worship was packed Sunday morning and almost electric with excitement and expectation.  I have been praying for sometime that God would help The Community Fellowship move to the next level.

It is a faith issue.  We hired our 2nd staff member a week ago.  More steps to take are ahead along with the possibility of combining 2 churches into one.  (Pray for that with us.)

Last evening as I was sharing with the House of Prayer their worship leader shared what God taught him yesterday while standing under a fruit tree.  First, John has asked God to speak, and God did.  He noticed that some of the fruit was just out of his reach, and when he used a small step ladder that he could reach more fruit.

In seeking God's direction about the House of Prayer and The Community Fellowship working together, we now see that joining our efforts, our hearts and catching the vision that God has given us.  By coming together, we will be able to impact more people, some of those who are right now 'just out of our reach'.  More people for Jesus.  Bigger stuff for God's kingdom.  It is all about Him.

This is an exciting time.  The One Prayer series begins this coming Sunday with over 1,200 churches focusing in the same direction.  No telling how many more lives, how many more churches and how great the impact will be for God's kingdom.  Get on the boat 'cause this is gonna be an awesome ride.

As a leader, I often ask God how we can push forward to the next level?  The answer is simple in the verse above.  Pray.  Seek God.  Follow His lead.  Do nothing else.

If we do that, then we will see and be able to change the world and the outlook and the eternal destiny of people who are 'just out of our reach'.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
