30 Days to Live [+] Friday E-Devotion

I have been pretty much consumed the last 5 months praying for and preparing for this coming 35 days.  It is gonna be 'off-the-hook' and a time to talk with the people we care for about the things that really matter.

John 10:10 (nlt) --- The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Get a handle on that verse.  Ask yourself the questions that go along with.  Does you life really count?  Are you only surviving each day or enjoying and thriving in each day?  God wants to give us purpose.

Ask others the question: what if you had 30 days to live?

Interact with people and talk with those people who matter about stuff that really matters.  Why?  Because life is short, and God has a purpose for each of us.  I am excited that many people are seeing and knowing those things for the very, very first time.  Yep, that is exciting and that is what it is all about!

James 4:14 (nlt) --- How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it's here a little while, then it's gone.

We aren't promised tomorrow.  Death may meet us today or at any time.  You may be going through hell on earth now.  Take a look at life.  Maybe, take a look at the lives of people around you.  People matter to God, and we need to care about what God cares about.

If you don't know God, I ask that you think about this abundant life that Jesus has for you.  Let me know if we can talk further about that.  If you do know God, I want to ask you to choose one of the following passages to use to start some conversations in the next 30 days while we ask that question ... what if you had 30 days to live?

2 Peter 3:9 (nasb) --- The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Romans 10:9-10,13 (nasb) --- that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

John 10:10 (nasb) --- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

John 3:14-17; 12:32 (nasb) --- As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him…And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself."

Help me and the leadership team of The Community Fellowship make 30 Days to Live count for the kingdom of God.  Speak up.  Start conversations.  Talk about what matters.  It is God!

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
