brave in 2009

Create a revolution by serving people. - Dino Rizzo 

That quote left me almost speechless as I drove between Georgia and Virginia this past week.  I am always amazed at what God does and how He does it. My mind was wandering and getting tired when I began listening to some interviews.  Then I heard that quote.  It not only fits what is going on at The Community Fellowship, but it makes sense, real sense.  I can apply that.  How about you?

Galatians 5:13 (nlt) --- For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

1 John 3:17 (nlt) --- If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God's love be in that person?

Proverbs 19:17 (nlt) --- If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!

I am convinced that we can make a huge difference in our community, in our family, in and around our church and beyond when we begin to look beyond ourselves.  Think it through.  Begin to create something bigger than you.  That will come by serving others.

Matthew 25:40 (nlt) --- "And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'

I leave you with those thoughts and with this question, will you be "brave in 2009" by serving others and in so doing serving your God?

inspiration from C.S. Lewis

There are many people, past and present, who get our attention by what they write or say or share.  For me C.S. Lewis is one of those.  He was a prolific writer who continues to grab the attention of thinkers from many different points of view. Lewis first grabbed my attention when I was in 5 th grader, and our teacher, Mrs. Foy, shared The Chronicles of Narnia with our class.  It was a powerful time that this dreamer opened doors to thinking like I had never lived before.  He wrote of faith, of far off places and of strong figures who found their character rooted deep in God. C.S.
