people no one else touch

Let begin today by pointing you to a website that is awesome, about sharing faith, and it is very Creative.  Click on I AM SECOND and watch some of the stories.  Send it to others especially those who need to meet our Jesus.  Just saying ....

I really enjoy connecting with people. Some of those are people who come to our church or who we get to minister to in some way or another.  Other connections come through like minded people on this new wave that the internet provides like myspace, facebook and twitter .  One of those connections, Andy, sent me a quote yesterday that sent me to thinking.  Read on:

"But what had lasting significance were not the miracles themselves but Jesus' love. Jesus raised his friend Lazarus from the dead, and a few years later, Lazarus died again. Jesus healed the sick, but eventually caught some other disease. He fed the ten thousands, and the next day they were hungry again. But we remember his love. It wasn't that Jesus healed a leper but that he touched a leper, because no one touched lepers."Shane Claiborne

Did you hear that?  Read it again.  I'm almost so floored by what Shane said that I don't know what to say.  But, that's truth.  Death happens.  Sickness happens.  God answers our prayers, but the most important thing is not the meeting of needs or helping with problems.  The most important thing is God touching lives.  We do that.  We literally become the hands and feet and heart and life of Christ every day when we do what God calls us to do.

This time of year we are moved to touch lives for Christ.  But we need to think about the deeper part.  What lasting impression are we leaving?  What will people be thinking about after I am gone?  How can I leave people thinking about Jesus?  It is time touch the people that no one else is touching.  Remember "It wasn't that Jesus healed a leper but that he touched a leper, because no one touched lepers."

John 3:30 (nlt) --- He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

Matthew 5:16 (nlt) --- In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

John 10:10 (nlt) ---The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Who am I going to touch and influence today leaving them thinking about Jesus?  Lord, let me touch people that no one else touches for you!

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...
