lets get personal

I just finished reading THIS post from Pete Wilson and have so much going through my head right now.  Some of it has "joy" marked all over it while other parts are marred by "sadness" or "worry" or "fear".  Life is just like that.  And if we allow life to drag us around by the proverbial tail we will not see much joy or much victory or much to live for.  Do you agree?

It is time to let it fly.  Lets get honest.  Somethings in life just suck.  They aren't any fun, but we have to deal with them.  We have troubles and problems and none of us are perfect (including me).  So, what do we do?  Where do we go?  How do we deal?  And so on...

A couple weeks ago in a message that was part of the Warrior series at The Community I had to get honest, and the overflow was big and awesome.  Some of it was painful, yet I saw the outcome have huge growth for me and for others in our church family.  I love to see life change.

But as I sit and reflect on life and life change, I notice that little would ever happen if we don't have to go through the crap and the mess and the troubles.

Perry Noble said this, "A move of God is messy."

I've been a mess, and I've been around messes.  Honestly, what I do is worth dealing with the mess, mine and others.  Do you agree?

I remember Gary Lamb saying something like "if you don't find yourself around drug addicts or those living on the street or around people in trouble, then you really aren't doing ministry" (not an exact quote at all).  And I totally agree.

Lets get honest.  Is there any area of your life that disgusts you?  Is there any area where you feel you have failed? We've all been there and recently.

Lets get honest. Is there anything you are really excited about?  Is there any area where you feel you have been successful?  We've all been there and I hope recently.

God intends for us to live life.

John 10:10 (nlt) --- The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Psalm 121:1-3 (nlt) --- I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there?  My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber.

Lets get honest.  If we don't look to God, we fail.  It is that simple.  If we don't tell the truth, we fall flat on our faces.  When we get honest with God and with people, God intervenes and we see big victory.  It is all about God.  Do you agree?  Lets get honest.

Have you heard of EDITH BURNS?

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio, Texas . She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.  One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was because of Edith Burns.  When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.  Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns.  Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.  Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse, Beverly. Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure. Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"  Beverly said, "Why yes I do."  Edith said, "Well, what do you ...

wash feet, sharing hope

John 13:4-5,14 NLT  So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him… 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. Jesus set the example we follow.  He served.  He valued and gave value to others.  That is why we choose to serve. For 18 years our church has shared an outreach called back2school, and for 16 of those years we have chosen to give students brand new shoes and socks as well as washing their feet.  It is one of the most important parts of this event. Washing feet is a humbling experience where both the give and the receiver learn how to share some moments that might change their lives.  Jesus said we should do this.  See the verse above.  Follow His example, do what He did, and give far more than you will ever know....
